Instructor Background
Delilah Ortiz owner of Spanish in Atlanta and the main instructor is originally from Queens New York; her family is from Bogotá Colombia. She learned Spanish first at home and then English in school the hard way. The challenges faced in school while learning English, home environment and musical talents are just some of the many factors that greatly propelled her to become an exceptional language instructor and speaker of 4 languages.
Influential Experiences
At the age of 7, she had her first interpreting job. Her dear mama “Tetiroli” aka ñaña vieja, volunteered her to be her freelance interpreter. It was an experience that helped her gain a remarkable understanding for foreign languages and solve the typical pitfalls people face now when learning a foreign language!
Her dear “Tetiroli” is now in heaven but all the success and great innovative teaching techniques Delilah use are in part inspired by her mama and her papa. She studied French for 13 years and learned Italian mostly on her own. She was immersed in language learning surroundings for 2 decades. In that time, she observed, analyzed and created personal theories as to why others struggled in class.
Reasons Behind Teaching Methodology
Through the years, she developed unique and insightful tips, tricks, and theories as to why a number of students can’t retain or speak the foreign language they are learning. These fresh and unique insights are the foundation for how she conducts all Spanish, Italian and English language training in Spanish in Atlanta. She uses her musical training as an Opera singer and her multiple years of language learning to solve many of the Spanish learning pitfalls students face.
Delilah continues studying other languages like Hindi, Chinese and Arabic. She has a great passion for teaching and is immensely appreciative of all the jewels of knowledge she continues to receive when working Spanish in Atlanta students and for the opportunity to significantly enhance their lives!
Future Plans
We hope to gain the necessary funding from investors in the future to create great foreign language games, apps, more videos and a grand foreign language center never before seen! Constructed so that students learn foreign language naturally and through their environment.

I've taken two courses with this program and I actually love it! I'm kind of a skeptic of courses because learning languages is very difficult for me, but the intructor, Delilah really helps break the language down in different ways and also understand how your brain learns.Also, although I signed up for a group class, the classes are small enough that the lessons are pretty personalized and she's always available throughout the week to answer questions.Definitely worth it!

I just started Beginning Level 1 with Delilah and it is amazing! I have tried to take spanish classes before at other locations, but they didn't seem to start with the basics or they weren't really beginning level. I just kept getting frustrated and would drop out. Delilah's class with Spanish in Atlanta starts at a very basic level and is designed to give you the essentials so that you feel like you are progressing. I've taken the level I beginners Spanish class with Delilah. She is a fantastic teacher that knows how to teach a language to someone and make it work for the long term. The way she teaches it is more understanding based than pure memorization. The class sizes are pretty small so she gives each person individual attention and help. All in all, definitely continuing with her classes!

Unfortunately, we had to move out of the area and could no longer continue our study at Spanish in Atlanta, otherwise we would definitely still be studying with Dee.

Am actually learning Spanish! I signed up to accompany my son and learn some at the same time. The approach at Spanish in Atlanta is very helpful - you learn Spanish, you do NOT learn to translate English to Spanish. You'll hear it every class: "No translating!". Lots of pictures and learning from pure curiosity - LOTS of interaction with fellow students and homework that reinforces well - it is checked! So the goal and expectation of Spanish in Atlanta is that you go there to speak Spanish. You get classroom instruction, interactive work with classmates, homework and lots of Youtube videos to reinforce what you're learning!Highly recommended!
